Students in Mr. Moll’s 3D Modeling and TSA class compete in a competition sponsored by Makerbot. Students and Mr. Moll entered a total of 7 ornaments in the contest, though they did not win the contest the students designs were like by many people in the Thingiverse community. Thingiverse is a online community created by Makerbot that promotes creation using 3D printers, members share designs and information about their use with 3D printers. Makerbot sponsors a couple contest a year, Mr. Moll and his students are looking forward to their future contests.
The Digital Photography class taught by Mr. Moll competed in a photo editing contest as part of the course’s curriculum. The contest demonstrated their mastery of the photo editing software that they learned in class. Students then had the opportunity to vote on their favorite edits. Staff members and students not in the class also got into the competition and voted. The winner from each class had the opportunity to print a lithopane of their photographs. Another lithopane will be printed to be used in a cross curricular mobile created with help from the Technology Education, Art and Science departments. The grand prize winner was able to print a cell phone case of their choice.
